This beautiful palace was specially constructed for Umaid Singhji, the Maharaja of Jodhpur and is set in the midst of 26 acres of manicured lawns. Believed to be one of the largest private residences in the world the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, North India was constructed specially in the Indo-Colonial and art deco style.
This Jodhpur palace was constructed during the years 1929 to 1943 and more than 3,000 workers, artisans and craftsmen worked together to give shape to this magnificent building that stands proud on the Jodhpur sands. All the rooms at the Umaid Bhawan Palace still have the original furniture that was specially ordered to complement the design of this massive and plush hotel.
Built of yellow sandstone the Umaid Bhawan Palace gives the impression of rising from the yellow Jodhpur sand like a vision or a dream. Once you step inside the palace that has now been converted into a palace hotel you are pleasantly stricken by the inherent opulent and regal charm that envelops you.
